DENVER--Agnes Koehler, 92, retired educator, died Wednesday, Nov. 15,
2000, at hospice in Lakewood, Colo. A memorial service was Nov. 20 following
cremation.
She had lived with her sister in Lakewood since her retirement in1973.
Miss Koehler was born in Raton, N.M., in 1908. Her 42 years of
teaching began at high schools in Roy and Raton following graduation from
New Mexico State University. She later graduated from the University of
Colorado with a degree in guidance and counseling and had additional studies
at Stanford University and the University of Iowa.
She was a home demonstration agent in Lander, followed by 26 years
as a senior guidance counselor at Sheridan High School.
She was a member of the Lakewood United Methodist Church and Lakewood
PEO Chapter E.J. after her retirement, and the Retired Teachers Association.
Her interests included family genealogy, volunteer church work, sewing,
baking and knitting. She is survived by seven nieces and nephews.
