Rachel Saralee VOSS Mackey 1956- 2020 SHS 1974

Saralee Mackey, age 64, passed away on September 9, 2020 at home with her family and friends by her side after a year-long battle with cancer.

Saralee was born in Franklin, Indiana on September 2, 1956, to parents Rollie and Pauline Voss. Saralee attended Duchesne High School in Utah, then moved to Sheridan for her senior year (SHS Class of 1974). She attended college in Rapid City. Saralee worked for Ron Vanderhoef, Horseshoe Golf Club, The Powder Horn, TOP Office, and BEST Real Estate. Saralee is described as strong, caring, and energetic. She was a beautiful person inside and out.

Joel and Saralee Mackey spent over 25 years of their lives together where they enjoyed boating, riding bikes, playing golf, traveling, and loving their dogs. They have three children: Jeff Mackey, Tyler Piesik, and Nicki (Chuck) Burgess who blessed them with nine grandchildren Kylie, Adeline, Riley, Christian, Paxton, Jenna, Lucas, Emilia, and Bella.

Saralee is preceded in death by her parents and brother (Lance Voss).

She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, a brother-in-law Jerry (Judy) Mackey, and sister-in-law Doris (Leon) Pehringer. Close friends at the time of her death that Saralee considered family: Stan & Carla Ash, Vanderhoef family, Larry & Sue Sare, Jody Bush, Ralph Klopcic, Ted & Mitzi Knapp, Michele Muecke, Kevin & Jill Bates, and Cal Garretson.

There were many loving friends and neighbors who faithfully prayed for a miracle, sent cards, and provided meals during Saralee’s illness. Dr. Walker, Dr. Ratterman, Nina Beach, Welch Cancer Center Team, and Hillary Kolden- we are so grateful for the many ways you went above and beyond.

A private burial ceremony is planned for family and close friends. A celebration of Saralee’s life will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Bethesda Worship Center, with Pastor Scott Lee Officiating.

Memorials may be given to the Advocacy Resource Center (136 Coffeen Ave, Sheridan).
