;

David W. Selig, 58, of Sheridan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Sheridan Memorial Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.

David was born on November 7, 1952, to Amelia (Wantulok) and Stanley Selig in Sheridan, WY. He was raised in Sheridan where he graduated from Sheridan High School in 1971, and served in the US Army in Germany for a brief period of time.

He worked in construction most of his life.

Dave was a Wyoming Cowboy fan, enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

His lifelong love of tinkering with anything mechanical grew the phrase that he could “fix just about anything,” and was a fixture at auctions, often being called “Gypsy Dave.”

He became a certified welder, and worked building drag-lines, and most recently for D.A. Dozer. He used the quote often... “Do you know what Michael Angelo said to Leonardo DeVinci: When I am finished, I am done...”

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Ron.

He is survived by his siblings, Don Selig (Lois), of Yakima, WA, Ernie Selig (Garna) of Sheridan, WY, Dale Selig, of Sheridan, WY, Sharon Darnell (Mike) of Sheridan, WY, and Terry Selig (Donna) of Cheallis, WA.

Memorial to honor David can be made to the Pryor Mountain Wild Mustang Center, Box 385, Lovell, WY, 82431.

Graveside Services for David will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery, with Mike Darnell officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held later this summer to celebrate his life.

Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
