Memorial services for Susan Patton Fletcher, 54, of Sheridan will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church with the Rev. David Duprey officiating.

Mrs. Fletcher died Oct. 17, 2007, in St. Vincent's Hospital in Billings after a five-year battle with chronic lymphatic leukemia.

Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home.

She was born Feb. 19, 1953, in Dillon, Mont., to John and Virginia (Tovey) Patton. The family moved to Sheridan in 1954, and she attended elementary and high schools here.

She married George Fletcher in Sheridan in 1971. The family lived in Bozeman, Mont., from 1972-76 while Mr. Fletcher attended college. They returned to Sheridan in 1976.

Mrs. Fletcher began working part time for Fletcher Construction Co. as payroll clerk after her children were in school. She eventually became full-time bookkeeper and corporate secretary/treasurer.

She was a member of the company's board of directors for more than 20 years and a co-owner of Fletcher Construction Co. and Fletcher Development LLC.

After retiring, she continued to work with crews helping shingle roofs, pour and finish concrete, and do general labor including operating a skid steer loader. She received the title "Director of Fun" for the company.

She helped build the addition to the family's cabin at TeePee in the Big Horn Mountains. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends, traveling — including trips from Maine to Hawaii and to Puerto Angel, Oaxaca and other sites in Mexico — entertaining, playing bridge and attending events at the WYO Theater.

She supported her children and grandchildren in their activities, fished, gardened, played sudoku, ranched and farmed.

She was a member of the Sheridan Jaycees, a precinct committeewoman for the Republican Party, worked on political campaigns, served on the citizens' advisory board for the Wyoming State Unemployment Division, was an advisory board member for the Sheridan-WYO Rodeo Gold Buckle Club, and served as chairwoman for the Wyoming Matching Endowment Program at Sheridan College.

She established the Fletcher Construction Scholarship Fund at Sheridan College, which will be renamed the Susan Patton Fletcher Memorial Fund in honor of her fundraising efforts for the college.

She was president of the Sheridan College Foundation board of directors, a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and past president of St. Peter's Altar Guild, member and past president of PEO Chapter AM, and past president of the WYO Theater board.
