George Lewis Grotz, 51, of Sheridan died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be 3 p.m. Monday at the VFW Post on Broadway.

Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Mr. Grotz was born Jan. 16, 1952, in Butte, Mont. He grew up and attended schools in Sheridan and was a 1971 graduate of Sheridan High School.  He joined the Navy after graduation and served five years during the Viet Nam Conflict.

He returned to Sheridan after his discharge and went to work for his father as a mechanic in the Central Garage in 1976.  He became owner of the Central Garage in 1978 and operated it until 1990 when he went to work for Woods Truck Co. of Gillette until the time of his death.

He also operated a small garage at the corner of Dow and Gould in Sheridan.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include three daughters, all of Sheridan; two brothers, Kent S. of the Phillippines and John of Minneapolis; two sisters, Sharon "Sha" Trout and Sherri Read, both of Sheridan; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
