Kenneth Michael "Mike" Barker, 58, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2011 due to complications from heart surgery.

Mike was born on January 1, 1953 in Sheridan to Joe and Gladys Barker. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1971 and attended Sheridan College.

On November 8, 1975 he married the love of his life, JoAnn Medina. Together they had two daughters, Mandy and Julie.

Mike had various professions in his short life, but his passion was always dirt work. He learned this trade as a young boy from his father and uncles at Barker Brothers. He was often referred to as a "dirt guru" and could tell you everything you needed to know about building a road. In 2003 he bought DCM Construction and became a very successful dirt contractor.

Mike enjoyed family vacations to Disneyland, traveling to gamble, trips to the cabin, supporting Sheridan High School athletics, and watching his grandchildren in sports.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, daughter Mandy (Jason) Leach and Julie (Rob ert) Morris, and five grandchildren; Cole and Ty Leach, Molly, Chance and Chelsie Morris, Siblings; Dan Barker, Keta Smith, and Becky Smith, in-laws; Chuck and Ruth Medina, and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life for Mike will be held at 10:00 am, on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Holy Name Church with Father Rob Spaulding officiating. A reception will immediately follow at the elks.

In leiu of flowers the family has set up an education fund for his grandchildren at Security State Bank in care of Marcie Buszkiewic at 2070 Coffeen Ave., Sheridan, WY 82801.
