OBITUARIES - THE SHERIDAN PRESS - March 30 2006

SHERIDAN -- Memorial services for Duane H. Powers, 53, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2006, at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. David Duprey and Dan Goodenough officiating.

He died March 26, 2006, at his Sheridan home.

He was born June 22, 1952, in Sheridan to Gerald and Geneva (Goodwin) Powers.

He grew up in the Quietus and Sayle area of Montana. He attended a one-room elementary school on Bear Creek and graduated from high school in 1970. He also attended Sheridan College.

He worked on family ranches in Montana and Wyoming and took care of the family Red Angus and Hereford cattle herd, as well as irrigating and putting up hay.

He owned and operated Sheridan Air Service for a time. He also owned and operated Powers Construction and was an excellent backhoe operator.

He married Betty L. Mitchell at Jinx Cotton's cabin in the Big Horn Mountains in June 2002.

He enjoyed snowmobiling, four-wheeling, making pole furniture, going to his cabin, collecting toy tractors and square dancing.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Land Development Contractors of America, Snomads, Jeans & Queens square dancing club and a 4-H leader.

Survivors include his wife, sons, Gerald and David Powers, mother and sister, Susan Beasley, all of Sheridan.

He was preceded in death by his father.
