Stephen Martin Melvin, 61, of Port St. Lucie, FL, died January 5, 2012 in San Francisco, CA.

Stephen was born in Des Moines, IA on November 28, 1950 to Franklin and Marilyn Melvin. He spent his youth in Sheridan, WY and graduated from Sheridan High School, the University of Wyoming, and the University of Denver with a Masters Degree in Financial Administration. While attending these universities, Stephen was on the Dean's list as well as the President's Honor Roll.

Stephen had a life long love of learning and books. He loved to travel. Countries in which he travelled were France, Spain, Ireland, England, and Canada.

Stephen worked as the CPA/Comptroller for OASIS Outsourcing in West Palm Beach, FL for the past 16 years.

Survivors include his wife, Madeleine Laplante of Port St. Lucie, FL; a stepdaughter, Charlotte Creaghan (Robert Happy) of Petaluma, CA; a stepson, Sean Creaghan of Montreal, Canada; two brothers, Paul Melvin of Sheridan, Bill Melvin of Newman Lake, WA, one sister, Susan Mack of CO, two nephews, Mathew Melvin of Billings, MT and Israel Melvin of Sheridan; five grandchildren, Nicholas Bernate, Alex Happy and Lucas Happy, all of CA, Lily Creaghan and Sophia Creaghan, both of Canada; two nieces, Brandy Southard and Jane Mack both of CO.

A memorial service has taken place in Port St. Lucie, FL.
