James R. Maurer, 59, of Sheridan, WY died Friday, July 2, 2010, in his Sheridan home.

James was born July 18, 1950, in Minot, N. Dakota to Harold & Ora (Howie) Maurer. Jim moved to Sheridan with his family in 1953 and attended Sheridan High School.

In his younger years, Jim worked on oil rigs, as a security guard, janitor for the American Legion and as a painter for Roy Schwartz for over 20 years.

Jim enjoyed hunting, dartball, artifact hunting, reading, music and playing trivia (which he won frequently) on the local radio stations.

He loved spending time with family and friends.

Jim was a member of the Big Horn Mtn. Eagles #4169, Son’s of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Janet Richards and Hazel Rotolo and brother John Maurer.

Jim is survived by his daughters Jamie Maurer (Bill) of El Mirage, AZ, Wendy (Brien) House of Gillette, WY and Pam (Gary) Klier of Ranchester, WY; sisters Connie (Bill) Mairs of Wasilla, AK and Helen (Paul) Deutsch of Ranchester, WY: and two grandsons Donavan and Carl Klier.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be 2:00pm on Saturday (July 10th) from Big Horn Mtn. Eagles Lodge. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Memorials may benefit the Eagles Lodge children’s fund or Hospice of the Big Horns.
