SHERIDAN - Memorial services for Sheridan resident Robert E. "Bobby" King, 53, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, April 21, in Sheridan College Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome by the Rev. David Duprey. Cremation has taken place, under the direction of Kane Funeral Home of Sheridan.

He died April 15, 2003, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County, after a courageous battle.

Born April 4, 1950, in Sheridan, he was the third of four sons of Don and Dorothy King; was raised on the ranch along Prairie Dog; attended grade school at Woodland Park; and graduated from Sheridan High School.

During elementary school, he participated in 4-H with horses and leatherwork.  In high school, he was active in the Rodeo Club in three events, calf-roping, bulldogging and team roping.  After school hours, he began what was to be his lifelong career in the family business, King's Saddlery.
He attended Sheridan College and continued his rodeo activity in the college circuit.  Following his education, he became the head of the rope department at King's Saddlery, which he continued until his death.

In 1975, he married Deborah Haynes.

Known for his good nature, devotion to his family, and love of the outdoors, he especially enjoyed watching his daughters play basketball and participate in rodeo.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years and two daughters, Erin and Kristen, all of the family home; parents of Sheridan; two brothers and their wives, Bill of Big Horn and Bruce of Sheridan; and nine nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his brother, John Barry King.

The family would appreciate memorials to the Sheridan County High School Rodeo Club, in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan 82801.
