Larry BOHNSACK 1949 - 2011 SHS 1967

Larry Bohnsack, born and raised in Sheridan, died at home in Newberg, Oregon on April 3, 2011. He was 62.

Larry was born Jan. 9, 1949 to Opal and Chancey Bohns ack. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1967 and received an Associate of Arts degree at Sheridan College in 1969.

In 1972, he was hired by the Camas Washougal (Washington) Post-Record newspaper in advertising sales. He met his future wife, Laurel “Stella” Hume there and they married at Cannon Beach, Oregon on New Year’s Day 1976.

Larry’s career included 14 years with Safeway Stores, at the retail level and as Advertising Manager for the Spokane and Portland Divisions from 1979-1989. Since 1990, he worked as Owner and General Manager of 1260 KLYC Radio in McMinnville, Oregon.

Larry served in the Wyoming, Oregon and Washington National Guard from 1967 to 1974.

Larry’s hobbies included cooking, gardening, cruising in his 60’s vintage Mustangs and raising livestock at Short Oaks farm.

In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by his brother Jerry of Courtenay, North Dakota; sister Joyce Bohnsack of Santa Ana, California; nieces Kristi Bohnsack of Sheridan and Carrie Bohnsack of Salt Lake City; nephew Michael Bohnsack of San Diego, California; great-niece Melissa Reimers of Sheridan; great-great-nephew Carter Reimers of Sheridan; Aunt Bernett Sieweke and several cousins of Sheridan.

A private service will be held April 8 at Valley View Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Newberg. A Remembrance Gathering is set for Saturday, April 23, 1:30 p.m. at the Dundee Women’s Club in Dundee, Oregon.
