OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - August 12 2005

GILLETTE -- The funeral for Gillette resident Steven James DeLauter, 57, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, in Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Gillette by Pastor Gordon Harper of Vineyard Christian Fellowship and Pastor Doug Rumsey of Antelope Valley Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. today, Aug. 12, at the funeral home.

Born May 6, 1948, in Duluth, Minn., he was the son of Gloria (Langlee) and Davis DeLauter; attended elementary school throughout Minnesota; and, in 1961, moved to Casper with his family. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1966 and attended Casper College.

He worked for Teton Homes until 1973, then began his sales career at Union Supply. In 1979, he moved to Gillette with the company.

On Sept. 12, 1981, he married Debbie Sparks in Casper.

At the time of his death, he was employed by Motion Industries. He was proud to have served the same customers for more than 25 years although working for different companies, including Gillette Winnelson and Applied Industrial.

An avid sports trivia buff and golfer, he had three holes-in-one during his lifetime. He loved teaching his daughter the game of golf and one of his proudest moments was when she was named state high-school golf champion in 2000. He also was an 18-year member of Club Energize.

Survivors include his wife of 24 years and daughter, Lindsey, of Gillette; his parents of Fort Collins, Colo.; three brothers, Dave DeLauter and his friend and Mark DeLauter and his wife of Fort Collins and Jeffrey DeLauter and his wife of Dacono, Colo.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
