Former Sheridan resident David W. Walton, 65, passed away on November 14, 2012 at Rapid City Regional Hospital after a brief illness.

David was born and raised in Sheridan, graduating from Sheridan High School in 1965.

He went on to serve for eight years in Sheridan as a police officer prior to moving to Rapid City in 1976. David served for 30 years with the Rapid City Police Department and graduated from the FBI National Academy in 2003 in Quantico, VA. He served as a Lieutenant in the Criminal Investigation Division at the time of his retirement.

David is survived by his wife of 33 years, Robbin Walton, daughter, Heather(Sherman) Walton-Blanden, grandson Kailleb Walton Blanden, all of Rapid City, SD; daughter, Kelli Walton of San Diego, CA; mother, Bonnie Walton, brothers, Gary Walton and Jeffrey (Kyle) Walton all of Rawlins, WY; sisters, Mary Kay (Joe) Gonzales of Cheyenne, WY and Laura (Nels) Spilski of Wright, WY.

He was preceded in death by his father Ira J. Walton and nephew Jeremy Collier.

A tribute, celebration of life and funeral services were held Tuesday, November 20 and Wednesday, November 21 at Open Bible Christian Center, 2225 East St. Patrick, Rapid City, SD.
