Janet Louise Redies, 63, of Billings found peace on October 6, 2010.

She was born in Sheridan, WY on November 27, 1946. Janet graduated from Sheridan High School and attended Sheridan Junior College and (formerly) Eastern Montana College.

Jan was a truly gifted artist and chef, known especially for perfectionist work on her exquisite cakes. Her culinary creations graced special events and the tables of many fine restaurants in Montana and Wyoming.

Jan enjoyed gardening and reading.

Her greatest joys were her dog Huntley and her cats Carmel and Oreo.

She volunteered at Zoo Montana and attended Shiloh Methodist Church.

In 1995 Jan was the victim of a traumatic brain injury. She was active in the Brain Injury Association and strove for independence in her remaining years.

Her parents, Walter and Rosalie Redies of Billings, preceded her in death.

She is survived by one sister, Judy Redies Uerling, of Clovis, NM.

A visitation will be held at Cremation & Funeral Gallery on Friday October 15, 2010 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Graveside services for family and friends will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday October 16 at Mountview Cemetery with the Reverend Jan Whitmore officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter, 1735 Monad Road, Billings MT 59102.
