James W. Howell, M.D. was born in Sheridan, Wyoming, October 30, 1946.

He passed away in Denver, Colorado on Sunday, March 15, 2009.

He is survived by his wife Maureen, his daughters, Gwen Howell and Piper Howell, one son Lucas Howell and stepsons Judd Rogers (Carolina Jaramillo Sch.), Lucas Rogers (Hossai Shah Rogers) and Gabriel Rogers and five grandchildren, Jared, Sam, Aaron, Happy and Sophia and his two sisters Jane Horton (Howell) and Billie Howell.

Jim was a man of extraordinary talents and great kindness.

As a child he dreamed of being an astronaut.

As a doctor his gifts exceeded that reach. To his patients, his friends, fellow aviators and most especially his family he was a man of patience, humor and unfailing kindness.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held this Saturday in Lander WY at the Mt Hope Hudson Funeral Home followed by a reception at the Lander Airport. We welcome all who knew Jim to join us.
