Kerry Mitchell HARNISH 1946 - 2020 SHS 1964

May 31, 1946 - June 9, 2020

Kerry Mitchell Harnish passed away peacefully on June 9, 2020.

Kerry was born in Buffalo, WY on May 31, 1946 to Harold and Ruth Harnish. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1964. After graduation he enlisted in the Navy and served in China Lake, CA from 1964-1967.

Upon returning to Sheridan he married Carol Terry on July 26, 1968. He worked for the Forest Service, Survey Crews, Big Horn Coal, and Ensign Bickford. After retiring he spent several more summers working for the Forest Service.

Kerry was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Ruth Harnish and two brothers Bernard Harnish and Harold Harnish.

Kerry is survived by his wife Carol Harnish, sons Gary (Sonya) Harnish, Travis (Amy) Harnish, two grandsons Colin (Amanda) Harnish and Tucker Harnish, and his brother Bill (Janice) Harnish. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Kerry enjoyed spending time on “the mountain” with family and friends. The activities changed with the seasons and there was always camping, hunting, fishing, four wheelers, snowmobiles, and other activities to look forward to. He enjoyed sharing these experiences even to the extreme of waking family members in the middle of the night when it was -20 because the stars on the mountain were so amazing.

Kerry enjoyed cooking but he also enjoyed creating “interesting” meals on the mountains, newcomers were often led to believe that the evening meal could be something as exotic as Spamgehtti.

Kerry also enjoyed playing pool from the lodges on the mountain to the recreation centers in the lower lands.

In lieu of flowers a donation to the Tongue River Community Center would be appreciated. Donations can be made to the Tongue River Valley Community Center, PO Box 1100, Dayton, WY, 82836.
