Harold Allan JENKINS 1944 - 2019 SHS 1963

Gillette resident Harold Allan Jenkins, 74, died Friday, March 8, 2019, at Campbell County Memorial Hospital of a heart related condition.

Funeral services for Mr. Jenkins begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Mount Pisgah cemetary.

Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Gillette Memorial Chapel.

He was born in Sheridan on July 20, 1944, to Lorna I. Nelson and Harold Jenkins.

He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1963 and enlisted in the National Guard in 1962.

On Oct. 21, 1967, he married Diana G. Younkin, in Casper, and they were married 40 years until her death in 2007.

They lived in Casper, Sheridan, Fort Collins, Colorado, and Gillette for the last 38 years.

He worked as a coal miner at Peabody for 38 years and retired in 2012. After retirement, he traveled to Hawaii, Maine, Florida, Arizona, Texas and Montana, where he spent time with family and friends doing what he loved — fly-fishing.

He loved the Denver Broncos and during football season he went to Denver to treat family and friends to games with his season tickets.

His hobbies included bowling, photography and fly-fishing. He spent a lot of time on the Big Horn River with his young family, camping and fishing.

Mr. Jenkins is survived by his children, Scot A. Jenkins of Gillette, Sheila N. Gossens of Lovell and Kristen L. Jenkins of Portland, Maine; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Diana; and parents, Lorna and Harold Jenkins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in his name to benefit St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
