William A. “Bill” Steel, 67, of Sheridan, Wyoming, died Sunday, December 12, 2010 in Sheridan Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Steel was born November 3, 1943 in Sheridan, Wyoming to William A. and Marie (Cohn) Steel. He grew up and attended schools in Sheridan, graduating from Sheridan High School in 1962.

Bill served in the Navy during the Viet Nam War, then returned to Sheridan. He married Molly Brown in 1967, they were later divorced. Bill married Nancy ( Mock) Murphy in Story, Wyoming in 1993.

He was the owner/operator of A-OK trucking, then worked for Bob Collins delivering contract mail. He also worked for Dan Carlin as a courier. After his retirement, Bill took on a paper route for Big Horn and Story for the Sheridan Press.

Bill was a member of the B. P. O. Elks #520, Sheridan V. F. W. and the First Christian Church.

He enjoyed taking walks with his dog, “ Willy,” drinking beer with good friends, and always had a good story to tell. Bill was an avid lover of the Professional Bull Riding Association and never missed an opportunity to watch them, either in person or on T. V, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Norma, his son, Mike; and one grandson.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; one son, Heath Steel, (Jennifer); one step-son, Raymond Murphy, (Alice); one step-daughter, Cheryl Farman, (Dane); daughter-in-law, Amy Steel; best friend and brother, John Sturtz, all of Sheridan, Wyoming; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life for Bill will be 2:00 P. M. Thursday, December 16, 2010 at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Douglas Goodwin officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
