Herb SCHRODER 1943 - 2008 SHS 1962

DAYTON -- A celebration of life for Ranchester resident, Herb Schroder, 64, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2008, at the Dayton Park.

He died on July 30, 2008, at the Sheridan VA after a 5-year battle with pulmonary hypertension.

He was born on Oct. 24, 1943, in Sheridan, to Herbert Joseph and Florence (Diehl) Schroder.

His father died in 1955. His mother married Roy Sharp in 1958. His mother died in 1965.

He attended Woodland Park School and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1962. He also attended Sheridan College.

He married his high school sweetheart, Vicki Kreger, Dec. 12, 1964, in Sheridan.

He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran.

While stationed in Tucson, Ariz., he worked for a rodeo stock contractor and had a welding shop.

He and his wife moved back to Wyoming in 1973.

He hired on to Burlington Northern and worked there for 30 years.

During those years he also owned a small logging business and Ranchester Welding.

His metal fabrication skills were second to none.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, flying, shooting and spending time with family and friends.

Nobody was safe from his practical jokes.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Vicki; children and their spouses, Scott of Dayton, and Kristi of Lehi, Utah; brother, Steve Sharp and his wife of Sheridan and Roy Sharp family; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joe Glen and a sister, Laura.
