Claudia Madge ROUSH Paulsen 1944 - 2017 SHS 1962
Claudia Madge Paulsen, 73, passed away in Billings early Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, after a courageous 35-year battle with multiple sclerosis.

She was born Jan. 17, 1944, in Sheridan Wyoming, where she was raised. She later moved to Billings and began working for KOOK Television and Radio. It was there that she met and married the love of her life, Weldon on Jan. 24, 1965. The couple moved to Butte and had two children, Doug and Elizabeth.

After the children were well into school, Claudia studied to become a licensed practical nurse. The family moved to Billings in 1982, where Claudia worked as a floor nurse at Deaconess Hospital and then as a cardiology nurse for Dr. John Berg.

It was in her home, however, where she is most fondly remembered by her family. Claudia was known as an accomplished baker and loved to cook for her family and friends. There were often arguments among her children's friends about who got to go to the Paulsen house for after-school snacks. Oven-fresh bread, rocky road brownies and homemade macaroni and cheese were among the favorites.

She made certain that her children understood the value of thoughtfulness, good manners and hard work. Claudia taught by example and passed along strong character traits.

Later in life, Claudia greatly enjoyed spending summers at the family cabin in Story, Wyoming, Claudia was always an example of strength and resilience. S he showed courage and grace in the face of a debilitating disease and is now free of pain, walking among the flowers.

Claudia is survived by Weldon, her husband of 52 years, as well as her children Doug and Elizabeth. She had one grandchild, Ryder Paulsen.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Private interment of ashes will take place at a later date.
