Bruce Arnold GRIFFITH 1943 - 2017 SHS 1962

Bruce Arnold Griffith (b: December 11, 1943), recipient of the Wyoming Handicapped Citizen of the Year in 1973, died in Las Cruxes, NM on April 13, 2017. At an early age Bruce was diagnosed with a muscular coordination difficulty called Cerebellar Ataxia. His strong personality, determination and faith enabled Bruce to meet his life's challenges with dignity and strength.

Born in Sheridan, Wyoming, Bruce attended Linden Grade School, Central Jr. High, and Sheridan High. After high school, he attended Billings Business College in Billings, Montana and earned a BA in Business Administration from Idaho State University, Pocatello, Idaho in 1969.

Bruce worked in Cheyenne, Wyoming for Goodwill Industries as Director of Community Relations. He was President of the Wyoming Association for the Development of the Disabled. He was also a member of the Sheridan DeMolay and First Presbyterian Church. In Las Cruces, NM, Bruce was an active and admired member of the First Presbyterian Church where he made many friends.

Bruce is survived by his sister Leslie Griffith Engebretson (d. David) and his 3 nephews James (m: Susan nee Nichols), Michael (m: Alicia nee Kafka), and Robert. His sister Marcia Griffith Salmela pre-deceased him (d. 6 April 2017).

A memorial for Bruce is planned for 11 a.m. on May 6 at the First Presbyterian Church, 200 E. Boutz Road, Las Cruces, NM 88005.

Getz Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Las Cruces.
