John Ulsey TWISS 1943 - 2012 SHS 1961

John Ulsey Twiss, 69 of Warrenton, Oregon was called home to be with his loving Father September 10, 2012 in Portland, Oregon.

John was born June 23, 1943, to Clark and Ellen Twiss, in Ogden, Utah. John spent his early years in Sheridan, Wyoming attending grade schools and graduated from Sheridan High School. He worked for his father with the Twiss Hay Business in Sheridan. Upon graduating, John served in the US Air Force and saw duty in Turkey. John received an Honorable Discharge.

John moved to Warrenton, Oregon, where he married Wanda Mae Herzig, June 1965. John obtained a flight service station, Twiss Air Service, where he flew charter service and repaired private planes. You could always find friends hanging around the hanger with him. John was a member of MAPS, seeing missionary work in Africa and Alaska. He spent a year in Africa flying medical supplies and keeping planes in good working order. He was a Gideon member serving the Jail Mission in Warrenton and numerous other missions. He was very dedicated to his work with the food bank. Always following the Lord's words and wanting to serve in any way that God would lead him you would find John any place someone was in need of help.

John taught himself to facet gems and he loved working with uncut stones to see what wonders lay underneath. In recent months his wife Melody was teaching him to Kayak. His greatest loves were God, his family, friends and serving mankind with flying added in all he did.

His mother, father and wife, Wanda Mae Herzig preceded him in death.

John is survived by his two children, Lynn (Winter and son Alexander) Twiss, Corinna and daughters, Corriandra, Moriah, Jazmine and Piper; wife Melody; three brothers, Marvin (Joann) Twiss of Sheridan, Eugene (Joyce) Twiss of Portland, OR; David (Michelle) Twiss of Prineville, OR; four sisters Glenna (Jim) Conley of Sheridan, WY, Joann (Roy) Cummings of Arkansas, Mary (Milt) Nash of Florida, Betty (Marsdon) Pond of Arkansas and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at the hanger in Warrenton, OR.
