THERMOPOLIS -- Funeral services for Leonard Page Pruett, 63, will be Monday, March 19, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Mortimore Chapel in Thermopolis with Pastor Harvey Seidel officiatinge. Graveside services will follow at Monument Hill Cemetery.

He died March 7, 2007 at the Baylor Medical Center in Grapevine, Texas. He had been recently diagnosed with kidney cancer and suffered with many other ailments in the last several months.

He was born to Leon and Helen Pruett on Oct. 10, 1943 in Thermopolis. From there, the family moved to Texas, where he was a Boy Scout in Troop 20 and a member of the First Baptist Church in Thermopolis and Slidell, Texas.

He went to school in Thermopolis and in Slidell, Texas. He attended high school in Sheridan and participated in football and wrestling. He attended college in Sheridan and Laramie, where he received a bachelor's degree in accounting. He served in the Red Cross in Vietnam, and was a member of the Oregon Moose Lodge and the Jaycees in Colorado.

He resided in Colorado before moving to Oregon, where he met his present wife, Carol. They were married in Hillsboro, Ore., on July 24, 1993.

They moved to Euless, Texas in 1998 and he was employed by Affiliated Computer Services, Inc., in Dallas, Texas. Most recently, he was the manager of UNIX Support of Zale Corp. and Storage.

The family later moved and built a home in Ponder, Texas, where he drove 100 miles round trip every day to work until he became ill.

He enjoyed square dancing and traveling with his wife and was a great gourmet chef. He was known for his wonderful, delicious meals and desserts. He loved cooking and baking cookies with his grandchildren.

He was very active in the Jaycees and held many offices and earned many awards.

Survivors include his wife of Ponder, Texas; five sons, Jimmy, Randy, George, Brian and his wife and Jason; one stepson, Chris and his wife; one stepdaughter, Peggy and her husband; three brothers and their wives, Clyde, Jack and Tim; two sisters-in-law and several grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, bephews and cousins, and a very special buddy, his dog, Toby.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Perry and Leta Pruett and Allen and Jesse Durham; his parents, one sister, Judy and one stepson, Greg.
