Sheridan native Jay Edgar "Jolly Jay" Nugent, 58, of Ft. Collins, Colo., died Suday, April 14,2002, at his home.

Cremation is planned and a private family service will be in July. Goes Funeral Care is handling arrangements.

Mr. Nugent was born Sept 10, 1943, in Sheridan to George Arthur and Vera Jackson Nugent.

He was a photographer in the Air Force during the Viet Nam era and continued as a self-employed photographer all his life. He was a graduate of the Brooks Institute of Photography at Santa Barbara, Calif.

He was a founder of the Charlets singing group and a lyricist. He worked as a radio announcer in Casper and Sheridan.

He participated in and was a student of Christian Radio Ministries.

He moved to Ft. Collins 13 years ago. He was active in ham radio, teaching it to others and helping Webber Junior High School students contact astronauts 10 years ago while they were aboard the NASA Space Shuttle.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include a sister, Barbara Huston of Grand Island, Neb; five nieces and nephews, and 14 grand-nieces and nephews.
