James W. ANDERSON 1943 – 2000 SHS 1961

James W. Anderson, 56, of Salina, Kan., died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at the Salina Regional Health Center.

Mr. Anderson was born June 30, 1943, at San Antonio, Texas, and was a longtime resident.

He was a teacher and coach at Gering High School, Gering, Neb., for more than 10 years and owned and operated the Elmore Center Gift Shop. He served as the manager of the Ellsworth and Salina Alco Stores and then became district manager of Alco Department Stores of Western Kansas.

He was a member of Church of the Cross United Methodist Church, Salina.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara of the home; two sons, Jim of Gering and Jeff of Las Vegas; a stepson, Tom Klocek of Wichita; a daughter, Kris Perez of Scottsbluff, Neb; a stepdaughter, Tamara Adams of Salina; his mother, Catherine Anderson of Grand Junction, Colo.; a brother , Rob of Grand Junction; a sister, Diana Burge of Denver; and four grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father William who died in 1994.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, the Rev. Paul Wilke officiating. Inurnment will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.

Memorials may be made to the Oncology Unit at Salina Regional Health Center.

There will be no visitation.
