Martin Frederick Owens of Denver, Colorado who grew up in Sheridan, Wyoming died September 19, 2006.

Martin was born July 9, 1942 in Seattle, WA. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1960. He received his BS and MBA degrees in Finance from the University of Tulsa.

Martin worked for Dun & Bradstreet, Getty Oil, Mitsubishi, and Born/Fujitsu Corporation.

Martin was an active member of the Episcopal Church where he served in many leadership positions. He served on the board of Christian Marriage Encounter and Faith Alive Ministries.

Martin’s ancestors homesteaded in the Big Horn area of Wyoming in 1880. His great-great grandfather W.E. Jackson was one of the original group of men that established the town of Big Horn. He gave up part of his homestead for the town area. The Methodist Church and the Big Horn School sit on some of that property.

His great grandmother Minnie Jackson Martin started the Wyoming Girl’s School in Sheridan, Wyoming. His grandparents, Robert and Lona Helvey, ranched in Sheridan County for many years.

Martin’s mother, Marjorie Helvey Owens (Marney) taught Latin at Sheridan High School.

Martin was a man of great faith which sustained him in his 17 year battle with cancer.

He is survived by Cathie, his wife of 41 years, his children Robert (Suzanne) Owens and Carol(Peter) Zambrano, his grandchildren Christian and Connor Owens, Nico and Ava Zambrano, his sister Kathie(Wayne) Cassidy, his niece and nephews - Jenny Hull, Paul and Charles Gasser and their spouses and children.

A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Centennial, CO on October 2 at 7PM.
