SHERIDAN -- A funeral service for Milton “Mel” Morris, 66, will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with Father Felix Martinito officiating. Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

Military rites by the Marine Corps League and the American Legion Post #7.

Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

He died on Sept. 11, 2008, in the Big Horn Mountains.

He was born on Jan. 28, 1942, in Sheridan to Paul & Mildred (Branch) Morris.

He grew up on a ranch north of Sheridan and graduated from Sheridan High School.

He married Georgia Butler in 1959. They later divorced in 1980.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in Vietnam. He was discharged in 1970 and moved to Denver where he went to work at the V.A. Medical Center.

In 1981, he married Cindy Burrow. He was transferred to the V.A. in Miles City, Mont., in 1984.

He retired in 1997, and returned to Sheridan.

They traveled around the U.S. and spent the summers in the Big Horn Mountains.

He was a member of the Marine Corps League, VFW, American Legion, DAV, Elks Lodge and Eagles Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Phyllis Brown, Leona Reardon, Nina Morris and Margaret Morris.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy of Sheridan; son, James of Maryland; daughter, Debra Frigon of Maryland; brothers, Paul and Patrick of Denver; sisters, Patty Shepard of Buffalo, and Mary Wormeldorf and Mary Heimer of Denver; stepbrother, Dana Wood; stepsister, Debbie Wood-Graves; and four granddaughters.

Memorials may benefit the donor’s choice of Marine Corps League, VFW, DAV or the American Legion.
