He was born Jan. 22, 1941, in Wheatland to parents Norbert and Vira (Boyington) Faass. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1959. Before joining the U.S. Navy, he worked for Cook Ford, Sheridan Iron Works and in the money cage at the Flamingo Casino in Las Vegas.

Dennis joined the U.S. Navy in 1963 and served on the following ships: USS John S. McCain, USS Lenewee, USS Nereus, USS Simon Lake, USS Kiska and shore duty at Brunswich Navel. While assigned to the ships McCain, Lenewee and Kiska, he was in Vietnam delivering U.S. and Korean Marines and ammunition to troops. While on the USS John S. Dennis thoroughly enjoyed when his family would all gather and make his home a little livelier.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Chad Norbert Faass (Amanda) of Bismarck, N.D., D’Andrea C. (Faass) Schwane (Andrew) of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Joshua A.
