BUFFALO -- Funeral services for Charles "Chuck" Ellis, 63, will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 10, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Buffalo, with Fr. George Greer officiating. A private interment will follow the services. Visitation hours will be held from 1 until 9 p.m., today, in the chapel of Adams Funeral Home, and from 9 a.m. until noon on Monday.

He died Jan. 6, 2005, at his home in Buffalo.

Born June 9, 1941, in Upton, he was the son of Merle and Ida Ellis. The family moved to Sheridan, where he was raised and educated, graduating from Sheridan High School in 1959. He went on to attend the University of Wyoming and earned a degree in art education.

On July 2, 1965, in Sheridan, he was married to Nikki Booras. They made their home in Great Falls, Mont., where he taught art. They moved to Wheatland in 1966. After starting an art program in Wheatland, they moved to Buffalo in 1968. In 1969, he received his master's degree also from the University of Wyoming. He then started an art program in Buffalo High School, where he taught for 30 years. Following his retirement in 1998, he and his wife remained in Buffalo until the time of his death.

He was a parishioner of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing, working on his paintings and spending time in the cherished company of family, especially his granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife; his mother Ida Ellis of Sheridan; his daughter, Kristin Ellis of Buffalo; his sons, Mark Ellis and his wife, and Matt Ellis, all of Buffalo; a sister, Shirley Roberts and her husband of Sheridan; a brother, Arthur Ellis and his wife of Cheyenne; a granddaughter; and three nieces and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.
