OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - August 12 2003

BUFFALO-Funeral services for former Buffalo resident Mary Victoria Smith, 62, of Loveland, Colo., will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 14, in Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo by the Rev. Tom Saur. Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery. Services also will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, August 12, at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Loveland by the Rev. Kent Hummel.

Visitation in Buffalo will be from 1 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, and 8 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

She died Aug. 8, 2003, at her home.

Born March 8, 1941, in Sheridan, she was the daughter of Walter and Emily (Pilch) Baker; was raised and educated there; and graduated from Sheridan High School. She attended St. Joseph's School of Nursing and became a registered nurse.

On Dec. 9, 1965, she married Bruce Smith in Casper.

They made their home in Buffalo, where she worked for the Johnson County Health Care Center. In 1988, the couple moved to Loveland and she worked for McKee Medical Center until her retirement in 2002. She was an intensive care nurse for 40 years.

A member of the Wesleyan Church in Buffalo and Church of Good Shepherd, she belonged to the Wyoming and Colorado nurses' associations. She enjoyed bird-watching, spending time with family and friends, gardening, and traveling with her family throughout the mountain West.

Survivors include her husband of 37 years; son, Zane Smith of Cheyenne; daughter, Connie Carter of Loveland; three brothers, Sam, Ray and George Baker, all of Sheridan; two sisters, Audra Evenson of Las Cruces, N.M., and Julie Catellier of Casper: and a grandson.
