OBITUARIES - THE SHERIDAN PRESS - May 8, 2003

Shirley Pauline Wertman, 63, of Sheridan died Friday, May 2, 2003, at her residence. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. May 17 in First Christian Church with Pastor Doug Goodwin officiating.

Mrs. Wertman was born April 7, 1940, in Monarch to Paul and Olga (Takach) Sturtz. She attended schools in Acme and was a 1958 graduate of Sheridan High School.

She married Verne Wertman June 25, 1965, in Sheridan.

She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Wyoming and did substitute teaching.  She later worked as an employment specialist for Wyoming Job Service until 2001, when she retired.

She earned a private pilot's license in 1973.  She enjoyed baking, camping, hiking, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Julia and Olga, and two brothers, Paul and Robert.

Survivors include her husband; daughters Elsa Bush of Gillette and Roberta "Bobbie" Wertman of Las Vegas; a stepson, Keith Barrow of Aurora, Ore.; three sisters, Lucy Kobielusz, Bernice Kobielusz and Elsa Ruby, all of Sheridan; a brother, John Sturtz of Sheridan; three grandsons; and many nieces and nephews.
