OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - April 13, 2002

WHEATLAND - Memorial services for Wheatland resident Samuel "Ferris" Morrison, 60, will be conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Wheatland Junior High School by the Rev. Delbert Dick.  Inurnment with military graveside rites by the Wyoming Air National Guard Flag Heritage Team will be in the Wheatland Cemetery.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his friends and faculty members of the WJHS.

He died April 11, 2002 at United Medical Center West in Cheyenne.

He was born Oct. 7, 1941, in Glasgow, Scotland, the son of Thomas and Susan (McCaskill) Morrison.  When he was 7, the family immigrated to the United States and settled in Sheridan, where he was raised and educated.

After high school, he attended law school for a time, then Sheridan Community College.  He earned an undergraduate degree in teaching at the University of Wyoming, followed by a master degree.

He served in the U.S. Army.

On Aug. 14, 1971, he married Kathryn E. "Kathy" Schnaible in Rapid City, S.D.

He teaching career of more than 30 years was in Platte County School District in Wheatland, where he taught social studies and coached track.  This past year, he was principal of WJHS.

A member of various educational organizations, he enjoyed golf, bowling, woodworking, sports and computers.

Survivors include his son, Ian Morrison of Mills; relatives in Scotland; his wife's family; and special friends, the Marshalls, Dowers and Lockwoods.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife on April 8, 2002; and a brother, James Morrison.

The Morrison Memorial Fund for Wheatland Middle School Music and Athletic Departments has been established at Community First National Bank, P.O. Box 908, Wheatland 82201-0908.
