Former Sheridan resident Joann L. Prophet, 62, died Friday, April 25, 2003, in Sacramento, Calif.
A family service was Monday. A memorial service was Thursday in Sacramento.
Mrs. Prophet was born Feb. 9, 1941, in Kleenburn to Joe and Phyllis (Aksamit) Legoski.
She was active in 4-H, earning scholarships from Sheridan High School to the University of Wyoming and winning trips to 4-H Congress and the United Nations.
She earned a dietetic scholarship after graduating from UW and completed her internship in Houston. She retired from University of California-Davis after 22 years as a lecturer with the Department of Food Services Management. She received numerous awards in her field.
She enjoyed reading, traveling and collecting cookbooks.
Survivors include her husband, George; daughters Jodilee and Bonnie; her mother of Sheridan; two sisters, Jeanne Mayer of Carson City, Nev., and Lori Legoski of Sheridan; three grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
