Paul Walter Shassetz Jr., 72, of Sheridan passed away on Monday, January 10, 2011, at his residence.

Paul was born on November 18, 1938, to Mary Margaret (Balen) and Paul Walter Shassetz Sr. in Rock Springs, WY. He moved to Sheridan at an early age where he grew up, and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1957, and was very active in sports such as football, basketball and track.

He married Sallie Ruth Siedentopf in 1962, they had a daughter, Deborah.

Paul served in the Navy on the USS Kitty Hawk.

He worked as a coal miner for many years, and then for the City of Sheridan until the time of his death.

He enjoyed snowmobiling, old cars, stock cars, four wheeling, fishing, hunting, and the mountains. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, VFW, and the Big Horn Mountain Eagles Lodge.

Paul was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his mother, Mary, of Sheridan, his daughter, Deborah Shassetz Villa (Fransisco) of Modesto, CA,; his son Dakota Shassetz of Buffalo, WY and siblings, Carl Shassetz (Sarah) of Oklahoma City, OK, John Shassetz of Sheridan, WY, and Patricia Boykin (Bob) of Sheridan, WY. And one grandson, Brandon Johnson, of Modesto, CA.

Cremation has taken place and an Eagle's Memorial, followed by a “Celebration of Life” will be held at 2:00 pm, on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at the Big Horn Mountain Eagles Lodge, 1760 Commercial Avenue, Sheridan, WY. With Military Honors with Reverend Kevin Jones officiating. A reception will immediately follow.
