SHERIDAN -- A memorial service for Sheridan resident Jack L. Rudolph, 66, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Calvary Baptist Church in Sheridan by the Rev. Terral Bearden.

Cremation will have taken place under the direction of Champion-Ferries Funeral Home of Sheridan. Private family inurnment will be in the Elks Section of Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

He died Oct. 21, 2005, at Westview Health Care Center.

Born Aug. 25, 1939, in Sheridan, he was the son of Hazel (Lee) and George W. Rudolph; was raised and educated there; and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1957. He was nominated and accepted into the U.S. Air Force Academy that year.

He worked on various ranches in the Sheridan area during his early years, including for Dale Yetter on Beaver Creek; and was a hay contractor and farmer.

On Jan. 25, 1964, he married Caryle Trentacosti in Sheridan.

At age 25, he developed a brain tumor and had resided in care units in Thermopolis for 18 years and Sheridan for 13 years.

He was a member of Sheridan Elks Lodge No. 520; loved rodeoing, hunting and fishing; and enjoyed playing pool and bingo and working puzzles. A religious man, he attended the Episcopal, Methodist and Calvary Baptist churches throughout the years.

Survivors include his son, John L. Rudolph, and his wife of Billings, Mont.; brother, John W. Rudolph, and his wife of Gillette; sister, Marge Johnston of Sheridan; a sister-in-law; two granddaughters; an uncle; two nieces; three nephews; four grandnieces; and a grandnephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Irene Rudolph; his stepfathers, Herman Hoffman and Walter Grubb; and a brother, Bob Rudolph.
