Helen Mae Zowada, 70 of Sheridan, passed away on April 17, 2009 at Sheridan Manor after a short battle with breast cancer.

Helen was born in Monarch, WY on November 10, 1938 to Henry and Anna Oelschlager. She was a graduate of Sheridan High School.

She married Michael J. Zowada in Sheridan at Holy Name Catholic Church on June 15, 1957.

Helen enjoyed the mountains, working in her home and flower garden, and cooking. She loved spending time with family, especially her two granddaughters, and with friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Michael.

She is survived by her two sons, Loren and Merlin (Lori) Zowada, both of Sheridan; her two granddaughters, Sierra and Anna Zowada, both of Sheridan; her sister, Karen Shell, of Sheridan; her two brothers, Raymond Oelschlager, of Salem, OR and Darreld Oelschlager, of Yelm, WA; and a niece and nephew.

Funeral services will be held at Kane Funeral on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 10:00 am with The Reverend Thomas Ogg officiating. Interment will follow in the Sheridan Elks Cemetery. Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made in Helen’s name to the Kelly Schreibeis Memorial Foundation, P.O. Box 6786, Sheridan, WY 82801.
