Rodrick B. JANNEY 1939 - 2023 SHS 1957

Rodrick B. Janney, 84, of Cheyenne, passed at Davis Hospice surrounded by his loving family on the morning of December 25, 2023.

He was born on November 20, 1939, in Sheridan, Wyoming to J. Baird and Jeanette Janney. He married Connie Wilson on September 1, 1973.

Rod graduated from Sheridan High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Leonard Wood, MO in 1958. Rod graduated from the University of Denver in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and the University of Wyoming in 1986 with a Master’s in Public Administration.

His work career was extensive starting with Arthur Andersen & Co. as a Public Accountant in San Francisco, CA from 1963 to 1966; continuing with the U.S. State Department, Agency for International Development, Saigon, Vietnam from 1966 to 1968; the University of Wyoming Financial Office in 1969; the State of Wyoming Governor’s Planning Committee, Law Enforcement Assistance Administration Program as Deputy Administrator from 1970 to 1975; the State of Wyoming Department of Administration and Fiscal Control, Budget Division as a Budget Analyst from 1975 to 1979 and as the Budget Administrator from 1979 to 1984; the University of Wyoming as the Deputy Vice President of Finance from 1984 to 1985; Laramie County Community College as the Dean of Business Services from 1985 to 1997; and the Wyoming National Guard as the Deputy Military Administrator from 1997 to 2002.

Rod also served on the State of Wyoming Retirement Board, the United Medical Center Board, and the Laramie County Community College Building Authority.

He is survived by his wife Connie, son Paul (Samantha) Janney and daughter Jennifer Janney, grandchildren Daisy and Caleb Janney, sisters Lynn (Randy) Reece and Edie (Larry Biggio) Liotis; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Lorraine Quarberg, Tim and Lori Wilson, Mary Cordova, Jim Cordova, Karen Wilson, Tim and Therese Hupp, Tom and Ronda Wilson, Brian and Virginia Harris, and Robert Wilson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rod was preceded in death by his parents J. Baird and Jeanette Janney, in-laws Gene and Frances Wilson, and brothers-in-law DeLoyd Quarberg and Dan Wilson.

Services are scheduled for Friday, June 28, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral.
