Sharon McGaw Faulk passed away peacefully at her home in Oral, SD at the age 81 on February 19th 2021.

She was born the youngest child of Gladys Isabell Dickey and Rolland Bemont Archer on March 18th 1939 in Billings Montana. Sharon graduated from Sheridan High School in 1957. Later that year she and Byron Charles McGaw (Charlie) were married on November 27th. They moved to Chadron, NE to complete Charlie’s college education and start their family. They settled in Hot Springs SD in 1960 where they would raise their four children.

In 1974, Sharon and Charlie established Fall River Floral which Sharon owned and managed until December of 2005. They moved to what they lovingly called “The Farm” in Oral SD in 1984, where they grew flowers for their business and enjoyed retirement. In her retirement Sharon continued to work, enjoying her time and the people at the Oral Post Office. She was active in St. John’s Lutheran Church participating in bible studies and baking. She cherished her friends and especially liked to meet them for lunch.

In 2012, she married Fay Faulk. They enjoyed their time together at the farm. Fay remarked of Sharon, “She made everyone around her better.” Sharon had endless patience, a positive outlook and ability to find the good in all people and situations. Sharon had a quiet charm and a warm, gentle smile that could light up a room. She embodied grace under fire as she met the many challenges of life with unwavering strength. She sowed the seeds of her love and energy wisely, devoting herself entirely to her family and they, in turn, were equally devoted to her. She was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.

Sharon is survived by her husband Fay Faulk; her children Lisa McGaw-Bryant, Robyn (Brad) Petersen, Jo McGaw and Scott (Janna) McGaw; her grandchildren, Dylan Petersen, Ashley (Jimmy) Robinson, Nicole (Stetsen) Murphy, Jordan (Kinsey) Petersen, Chad Bryant, Sam McGaw and Jackson McGaw; great-grandchildren, Adrian and Collins Robinson and Sawyer Murphy, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a service at St. John’s Lutheran Church for immediate family and a burial at Black Hills National Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hot Springs, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charlie, brother Daniel Archer and sister Jo Selvig.
