Arlene Patricia Larsen was Born Sept 14, 1938 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Edward B. and Marjorie G Arnold Smith. Siblings include brothers Earnest W (Corky) Smith, Edward C Smith and sisters Laura Westman and Marjorie Ehling. She was raised in Sheridan,

She had three children: Lance, Susan, and Lori. What an awesome lady she was! At heart she was a bookkeeper, but she did anything that was needed to be done and was not afraid of hard manual labor. She has worked as a telephone operator, bank teller, dispatcher, bookkeeper, truck driver, barista, courtesy clerk, and most recently a pet sitter.

Arlene served in her community trying to be helpful to all. Her latest project was working with the city council in noise reduction, proposing the trains not blow their whistle in the residential areas of town.

She left behind a lot of stuff to her children who have no idea what to do with it. So if you would like a book collection, many pair of ‘reader' glasses, and a stockpile of jellybeans and popcorn, you should wait the appropriate time to get in touch. Tomorrow will be fine.

She is probably best remembered by her love of reading. Never a day passed that she didn't find a spot to curl up with her mainstays of life: her book and Dr. Pepper.

Arlene probably enjoyed her life the most when she and Charlie hauled livestock around the country. She loved visiting old friends and making new friends along the way. Although she has called Benson, AZ home for the last few years, she had lived in Billings, MT for many years. We will all miss her quick wit, that twinkle in her eye, her hearty hugs, as we watch her drive away in her green Mustang convertible for the last time.

She died unexpectedly on March 5, 2016 after having a massive stroke.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Larsen, her siblings: Corky, Ed, and Laura.

She is survived by sister Marjorie and all her children: Lance (Gail) States, Susan (Dan) O'Dell, and Lori Thomas. Step children: Loren (Debbie) Larsen, Carol (Troy) Darlington, Bruce (Cindy) Larsen. Grandchildren are Michael Campbell, Cody Campbell, Kellee States, Casee States, Zac Barron, Jenna (Dan) Loos, Jake O'Dell, Alyssa O'Dell, Joshua (Melissa) Thomas, Kyle Thomas, Brodie Thomas, Tera Thomas, Shelby Schoening, Sydney Schoening, Virginia Larsen, Charles Larsen. Great Grandchildren are LillyAnn Loos, Dean Loos, Joshua Loos, Dalton Taylor, Riley Thomas, Jordyn Thomas, Khloe Thomas, and Paighton Schoening.

Cremation has taken place. The family has yet to determine a place and time for the service.
