TUCSON, AZâ€"Edward Bailey Cattrell, 86, Tucson, Arizona, passed away in his sleep on March 22, 2024.

Ed was born in Sheridan, Wyoming where he attended Sheridan High School before earning his undergraduate degree in botany and his master’s degree in range management at the University of Wyoming.

During those summers he worked at Eaton’s ranch, one of his favorite places on earth. after graduating, he married Rochelle Lanouette and taught at Sheridan College, then moved on to earn his PHD at Washington State University.

He taught biology at Colorado Mountain College in Leadville, Colorado, and in the early 1980s he and Rochelle opened a plant nursery in Gillette, Wyoming, where he also headed the Sheridan College extension. Later he taught and served in administrative positions including dean of Faculty and Grants administrator at dull Knife College in Montana.

Upon retiring, he and Rochelle moved to Mazatlan, Mexico for ten years, returning to live in Tucson in 2014.

He is survived by Rochelle and his daughter Karye.
