Former area resident Raymond Alexander McCoul, 73, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.

Memorial service and flag presentation will be 10 a.m. Friday at Oregon Trail State Cemetery in Evanston. Arrangements are with Newcomer Funeral Home in Casper.

Born June 28, 1936, to Minnie (Stout) and Alexander McCoul, he was raised throughout Wyoming, as his father worked jobs from ranching to carpentry. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1955 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.

He married Billie Achenbach on Oct. 14, 1972, in Sheridan.

Mr. McCoul and his father built a store in Story.

He later moved to Elk Mountain to work in the Arch Mineral coal mines.

From 1986 to 1995 he and his wife owned Keyhole Marina and Resort.

He was preceded in death by a son, Demery; and a sister, Maxine Sipe.

Survivors include his wife; seven children, Barbara Hourt, Ray Allen McCoul, Trish Coulter, Shawn McCoul, Roxene Ventling, Dart Ventling and Kevin Ventling; a brother, Alexander McCoul; a sister, Unda Zitsman; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Donations may benefit the National Rifle Association.
