OBITUARIES - THE SHERIDAN PRESS - June 5, 2003

Sheridan native David Apolonio Williams, 68, died Thursday, May 15, 2003, in Fresno, Calif.

Services were May 20 in Fresno.

Mr. Williams was born April 19, 1935, in Sheridan to Charles Nathan and Constance Barron Williams.  He was a star athlete in Sheridan High School, lettering in football, basketball, track and field and baseball.  He was a member of the 1952 Wyoming State Champion American Legion Baseball Team.  He graduated from SHS in 1954 and later was signed by the minor league Pittsburgh Pirates organization.

He was an avid fan of the Dodgers, Lakers and Los Angeles Rams.  He was a retired employee of 34 years at Beef Packers Inc. of Fresno.

He was preceded in death by a son, David Wayne, and a brother, Santiago Chavez Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Jewell Marlene of Fresno; two daughters, Myrna Joyce Medicine Horse of Wyola, Mont., and Patricia Shyrleen Williams of Fresno; three sons, Gregory Ray and Ryland Bird, both of Fresno, and Darin Jay of Clovis, Calif; two brothers, Carlos of Hanford, Calif., and Daniel Serrano of Fresno; two sisters, Josephine Allen of Goodyear, Ariz., and Mary Vasquez of Selma, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
