Chuck was born November 14, 1935 to Charles and Violet (Rooch) Stevenson in Abington, Illinois, the eldest of four boys. The family moved to Wyoming when Chuck was in the eighth grade. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1954 and then was drafted into the Army. He was in the Active Reserves and then he joined the National Guard.

He married Coralee Malyurek and they had two sons, Bobby and Davey. The couple later divorced and he married Barbara (Lewis) LeVasseur in 1967. Barbara brought two sons to the union, Ben and Scott. The couple later had Mark.

Chuck had many interests, but among the greatest was his love for his trucks. He started his long trucking career for his father at the age of fifteen and bought his first truck at twenty. From then on he moved the family to wherever the job took him. He was involved in many road projects throughout northeast Wyoming. He hauled in the oilfields and coalmines and hauled bentonite. He also plowed the roads for ten years for the State of Wyoming.

He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, spending the winters down south, where it was warm and reading western books. He spent many hours in his shop, tinkering and building many different projects.

Survivors include his wife Barbara of Upton, sons, Robert Stevenson of Virginia, Ben LeVasseur (Lisa), Scott (Nicky) LeVasseur, Mark “Pepsi” Stevenson, all of Upton; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth (Diane) Stevenson, Sheridan and Roland (Sharon) Stevenson, of Lovington, New Mexico; sister-in-law, Pam Stevenson of Sheridan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Davey, and his brother, Keith Stevenson.
