OBITUARIES - THE SHERIDAN PRESS - January 20 2005 Shirley Anne Poston, 68, of Ucross died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at her residence.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with the Rev. Tim Tromble officiating, followed by a celebration of Mrs. Poston's life at noon at the White Buffalo. Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. Friday and 8-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. A private burial by the family will be later.

Mrs. Poston was born May 12, 1936, in Sheridan to Harold and Halcyon Scott. She grew up in Story and was a 1954 graduate of Sheridan High School. She participated in high school rodeo and was the Sheridan-WYO Rodeo Queen in 1953.

She married Louie Brock in 1954 in Story. They moved to Bozeman, Mont., where they attended college. They returned to Wyoming and resided on the family ranch south of Buffalo for 15 years.

Mrs. Poston worked for several years as a secretary for the Northern Wyoming Mental Health Center. She later was employed on the Texaco ranch north of Buffalo as a secretary, wrangler and groundskeeper and later was a guide and outfitter. She worked for Texaco for more than 25 years, until her death.

She moved to Story in 1971 and married Chuck Poston there on Aug. 20, 1977. The Postons ranched in Story until 1998, when they moved to the ranch on Piney Creek near Ucross. Mr. Poston died in 1999.

Mrs. Poston sponsored high school rodeo for many years and was a 4-H leader and a member of the Wyoming Cattle Women's Association, Beta Sigma Phi, PTO and the Piney Homemakers. She enjoyed bowling and playing darts. She continued to rodeo until ill health forced her to quit in 2002. She was an avid gardener, a member of the Wyoming Art Association and did craft shows with Western Handicraft.

Survivors include two daughters, Berva Brock of Banner and Sherry Harms of Chandler, Ariz.; a sister, Galeen Rice of Hudson, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
