Loretta J. Ley, 72, of Sheridan died Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service is 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Sheridan. Kane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Hardin, Mont., on July 5, 1936, to Jake and Linda Butkay, she moved with her family to Sheridan in 1942, attended Holy Name School, and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1954.

She married Marvin Ley at Holy Name Catholic Church on Feb. 12, 1955.

She worked at Safeway, Boyd’s Supermarket, and as a secretary for Ley’s Water Well Drilling and Service.

Mrs. Ley enjoyed travel, playing cards and the mountains.

She also took great joy in being a homemaker and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Ann Butkay and Barbara Ketcham.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Robert Ley of Sheridan; a daughter, Karen Kjerstad of Sheridan; two sisters, Charlene White of Soldotna, Alaska, and Marilyn Murphy of Story; five grandsons; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
