OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - June 20, 2003

SHERIDAN- Memorial services for Thomas L. Waddell, 67, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 20 at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Wilbur Holz officiating.  Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion and the National Guard.

Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

He died June 3, 2003, in a Tucson, Ariz. hospital.

Born July 7, 1935, in Sheridan, he was the son of John and Alice (Tift) Waddell. He grew up and graduated from high school in Sheridan.  In 1955, he married Gwendolyn Ann Hamilton in Concord, Calif.  He served in the U.S. Navy, working on many aircraft carriers and doing tours of duty off the coast of Vietnam.  He rose to the rank of Master Chief and retired from the Navy in 1973.  After the service, he returned to Sheridan where he managed the XL Lounge for several years.  In 1982, he moved to Safford, Ariz.

He enjoyed shooting guns and military and firearm history.

Survivors include one son, Steve Waddell of Sheridan; one daughter, Connie Waddell-Hilpert of York, Ariz.; three sisters, Betty Kuzara of Sheridan, Beverly White of Las Cruces, N.M., and Donna Kearn of Grants Pass, Ore.; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Jeff; two sisters, Gladys and Thelma; and five brothers, Fritz, Jack, Harry, Bill and Leo.
