Marvin Leroy TWISS 1935 - 2013 SHS 1953

Marvin Leroy Twiss, 77, of Sheridan passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan.

Marvin was born on September 26, 1935 to Clark and Sadie Maude (Patterson) Twiss in Arnold, NE. He was raised by Clark and Ellen Twiss in Cokeville, WY and in Sheridan, WY.

He married Rena Joannne Sweet on December 3, 1955 and were sealed together on June 27, 1998 in the LDS Temple in Portland, OR.

Marvin was in the US Army from 1952 to 1961 and served in the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling, snow snowmobiling, gardening, doing anything outdoors, reading and spending time with his family and friends.

He was a member of the VFW, NRA, Iron Workers Union #29, and was a High Priest in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Master Scout in Boy Scouts and an active member.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Clark, Sadie and Ellen Twiss, sons; Marvin Lee Twiss, Roy James Twiss, Russell Clark Twiss, brother John Twiss of Warrenton, OR.

He is survived by his wife, Rena Joanne (Sweet) Twiss of Sheridan, WY, brothers; Eugene (Joyce) Twiss of Portland, OR, David Clark (Michelle) Twiss of Prineville, OR, Stanley Larson of Cokeville, WY. Sisters; Glenna (Jim) Connelly of Sheridan, WY, Joann (Roy) Cummings of Vanboren, AR, Mary (Milt) Nash of Coral Gable, FL, Betty (Lars) Pond of Green Wood, AR, and Betty Lloyds of Rock Springs, WY. His surviving children are Robin J. Clark of Poway, CA, Rena (Jon) Godrey of Parish, N.Y., Dennis (Lisa) Twiss of Sheridan, WY, fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Numerous brothers and sisters in laws that became friends.

A visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, February 1, 2013 at Kane Funeral Home.

Funeral Services for Marvin will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop Rod Workman officiating. Interment will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. A reception will follow at the church.
