CASPER -- Graveside services for Robert H. Herden, 72, will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2008, at the Wyoming Memorial Garden Cemetery with Pastor Dan Carlin of Word Christian Fellowship officiating.

Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, at the Word Christian Fellowship.

He died on June 11, 2008 at the Douglas Care Center in Douglas following a courageous 20 year fight against Alzheimer’s.

He was born Oct. 20, 1935, in Worden, Mont., the son of Henry and Mary (Kreb) Herden. He was raised in Sheridan, and graduated from the Sheridan High School.

He attended a technical school in Kansas City, Kan.

He returned to Wyoming, and worked for Standard Oil until 1971.

In 1971, he started working for the State of Wyoming, and retired in 1991.

He began working for Professional Consulting Corporation on various computer projects throughout the United States.

Because of ill health, he had to retire for the second time in 1997.

He was married to Betty Sue Lummus on Sept. 10, 1960, at the Grace English Lutheran Church in Casper.

He was a life member of the Elks Club, where he enjoyed many hours playing cards.

He was an avid golfer.

He enjoyed spending time on the computer, and watching his children participate in competitive swimming.

He played the accordion and was a self taught piano player.

He is survived by his wife, Sue, of Casper; children, Jerry Herden and his wife of Randleman, N.C., and Scott Herden and Cathi Potter both of Casper; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Herden; a grandson; and a son-in-law.

A memorial to the Alzheimer’s Wyoming, P.O. Box 1493, Casper, WY 82602 would be appreciated by the family.
