WORLAND - Funeral services for Worland resident G. Duane Lindsey, 71, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Worland by Marion Canterbury.  Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today, May 27, at Bryant Funeral Home in Worland.

He died May 24, 2003, at Washakie Medical Center, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Gillette, he was the son of Benjamin and Laura (Kincaid) Lindsey; and moved to Sheridan at a young age.  He graduated from Sheridan High School in May 1952.

During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army in Germany and was discharged in December 1954.

He returned to Sheridan and began his career in the automotive business, working for Wyoming Automotive; then moved to Worland for two years.  In 1958, he moved to Rock Springs.

On Aug. 16, 1959, he married Marilyn "Bunny" Dorrence in Rock Springs.

They made their home in Jackson for a short time before relocating to Worland in 1961.  The couple established Lindsey Automotive in 1967 and owned and operated the business until 1985.  He then worked part-time for Western Motors and Carquest.

He retired on April 7, 2003.

His many interests included working in his yard, gardening, tinkering in his garage, and helping others with their cars.  He loved being around people and, especially, following his grandchildren's sporting events.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years of Worland; four daughters, Lisa Garretson and her husband of Worland, Diane MacGavin of Casper, Linda Garretson and her husband of Sheridan and Luanne Gentilini and her husband of Baker, Mont.; two brothers, Jim Lindsey of Buffalo and Archie Lindsey of Washington, Utah; and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenneth; and a sister, Betty.
