SHERIDAN -- Mass of Christian Burial for former Sheridan resident Josephine Garriott, 71, of Gillette, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan by Fr. Ron Stolcis. Interment will follow in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

Wake and rosary will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, May 30, at Kane Funeral Home of Sheridan.

She died May 25, 2005, at Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette.

Born May 1, 1934, in Sheridan, she was the daughter of Tony and Nellie (Morrissey) Leo.

She worked at Sheridan Senior Citizen's as an office clerk for 25 years; then moved to Gillette a year ago to be close to her daughters.

An avid traveler, she enjoyed trips to Deadwood; shopping in the Wal-Mart clearance aisles; and talking on the phone with her sisters and sister-in-law on a daily basis. She loved her cat, Boo-Boos; and spending time with her grandchildren.

Known for her sense of humor, even when she was ill, she played many practical jokes on others.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Linda Willamsen and Nancy Perry, both of Gillette; brother, James Leo, and his wife of Sheridan; two sisters, Eileen Adams of Gillette and Kathleen Legerski of Casper; a daughter-in-law; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Mates; a sister, Betty Newlon; and a brother, Tom Leo.

The family would appreciate memorials to the American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association for research, in care of Kay Roush, First Federal Bank, P.O. Box 6007, Sheridan, WY 82801.
